We are searching for a Spacesuit Technologist to support the Orion Crew Survival Systems (OCSS) project with Aerodyne Industries. Join a team devoted to human space exploration and the exploration of deep space.
Responsibilities- Understand theory and operation of OCSS hardware
- Understand cleaning requirements
- Understand maintenance, handling, and safety protocols
- Set up support equipment prior to testing
- Assist OCSS Suit Engineering Technologists during fit‑check and testing; progress through training to become proficient at fit‑check/crew training events and OCS vehicle ingress/egress operations
- Participate in all pre‑ and post‑event briefings
- Support the Crew Survival Equipment lab schedule
- Participate and support suit test subject and crew training exercises
- Understand ground support hardware theory and operation; provide required work authorizing documentation
- Follow project documentation and support drawing construction, working with the OCSS team to ensure requirements are met
- Support testing of OCSS hardware: suit, emergency breathing oxygen systems, pressure systems, survival equipment, etc.
- Support buildup of ground service equipment and periodic re‑calibration
- Assist project management and project engineers with qualification testing, pre‑delivery/installation acceptance testing
- Work in a team environment and report to project management on status, progress, and issues related to OCSS support for NASA
- Perform other duties as required
- High school diploma with 5 years of experience or a BS in Engineering Technology or related field
- Experience reviewing and following requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification success criteria
- Experience in assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space system hardware; experience with pressure, oxygen, or suit systems is a plus
- Knowledge of commonly used space‑hardware concepts, practices, and procedures, including interpreting engineering drawings and sketches, JSC Electronic Document System, and related software and tools
- Ability to support long, all‑day training events with prolonged periods on feet and moderate lifting of hardware
- Ability to meet the JSC job‑related medical physical pressure‑suit technician/hazardous duty launch and landing requirements
- Ability to prepare written documents and present verbally at meetings
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Experience with NASA flight processes, including Class I/II/III hardware
- Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
- Previous experience in assembly and test of spaceflight hardware and spacesuit systems
- Familiarity with machine‑shop techniques and processing hardware through the manufacturing process
- Ability to perform hands‑on test and documentation, including work authorizing documents and test preparation sheets; ability to work independently

Generally an office environment, but may involve inside or outside work depending on tasks.
Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and MachinesStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
AttendanceRegular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
