Performs accounting activities relating to Company investments, including fixed income securities, fund investments and stocks, and the preparation of associated managerial reports and financial statements.
Key Responsibilities- Compile and analyze financial information related to the Company’s investments in order to prepare and post entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions
- Perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings
- Analyze basic monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation of long-term investments reports from a third-party accounting service provider/vendor
- Coordinate with outside vendors to correct issues and problems that arise during monthly processing
- Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations for investments bank accounts
- Proactively detect, research, and resolve reconciliation items
- Analyze and document variances in account balances between periods
- Prepare various schedules required for quarterly and annual statutory reporting under NAIC standards
- Assist in providing data requested by internal and external auditors
- Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by managers
- Follow work plans, established timelines, and predefined goals for assigned work; meet deadlines
- Communicate activities, results, and observations with employees and management
- Identify areas for improvement in business practices and perform work efficiently
- Comply with corporate policies and procedures; report breakdowns in controls; conduct activities safely
- No people management responsibility
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required - Certifications:
CPA designation preferred - Experience:
2+ years of relevant and progressive professional experience in Accounting and/or Finance - Additional Qualifications:
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to apply accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Advanced organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Travel:
Occasional travel (up to 10% of time)
