Performs accounting activities relating to Company investments, including fixed income securities, fund investments and stocks, and the preparation of associated managerial reports and financial statements.

• Compile and analyze financial information related to the Company’s investments in order to prepare and post entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions
• Perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings
• Analyze basic monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation of long-term investments reports from a third-party accounting service provider/vendor
• Coordinate with outside vendors to correct issues and problems that arise during monthly processing
• Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations for investments bank accounts
• Proactively detect, research, and resolve reconciliation items
• Analyze and document variances in account balances between periods
• Prepare various schedules required for quarterly and annual statutory reporting under NAIC standards
• Assist in providing data requested by internal and external auditors
• Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by managers

• Follow work plans, established timelines, and predefined goals for assigned work; meet deadlines
• Communicate activities, results, and observations with employees and management
• Identify areas for improvement in business practices and perform work efficiently
• Comply with corporate policies and procedures; report breakdowns in controls; conduct activities safely
• No people management responsibility

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• Certifications:
  
  CPA designation preferred
• Experience:
  
  2+ years of relevant and progressive professional experience in Accounting and/or Finance
• Additional Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to apply accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Travel:
  Occasional travel (up to 10% of time)
