Tooling Engineer | Hudsonville, MI
Salary Range: $76,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Hudsonville that are seeking skilled Tooling Engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test manufacturing tools, dies, and fixtures.
- Analyze tooling performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
- Manage tooling projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
- Develop and maintain documentation for tooling specifications, maintenance, and operating procedures.
- Evaluate new tooling technologies and materials for potential application in manufacturing processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis for tooling failures and implement preventative measures.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, CATIA) for designing and analyzing tooling.
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, injection molding, CNC machining) and material properties.
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize tooling performance and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and manufacturing (e.g., Solid Works, Catia, Mastercam).
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding, such as stamping, casting, or machining.
- Knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques for tooling validation (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
- Certification in a relevant area, such as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or a Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
- Ability to speak a second language, particularly one relevant to global manufacturing partners (e.g., Mandarin, German, Spanish).
