The Achievement Center for Children is seeking to fill two (2) vacancies for an Intervention Specialist for the 2026-27 school year.

Reports to:

Director of Special Education and Principal

Job Objective:
Plan, implement, and evaluate student learning experiences designed to address a wide range of maturity and skill levels. Help students make appropriate choices and grow academically. Facilitate parental involvement.

Essential Functions:

The following are typical work responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

* Provide preschool program information to families. Assist with registration, orientation, and follow-up activities.

* Promote an atmosphere of hospitality and acceptance. Schedule home visits when necessary to improve communications, resolve problems, and/or facilitate transition activities.

* Prepare the classroom or designated area for instruction. Teach assigned classes.

* Advance the professional image of the service center and affiliated school districts. Maintain open and effective communications. Use problem-solving techniques to tactfully address concerns.

* Uphold board policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures. Refer service center policy interpretation inquiries to administrators.

* Maintain a thorough understanding of the subject matter. Organize appropriate subject content and learning goals. Develop lesson plans that align with state standards and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) objectives.

* Identify problems that may impede the learning and/or the social integration of preschool students.

* Evaluate the academic needs of students. Develop effective student educational experiences that engage and stimulate student learning. Vary instructional techniques to address diverse student learning styles.

* Help students develop language, social, adaptive, cognitive, and motor skills. Teach students how to plan ahead, care about people's feelings, and make acceptable decisions.

* Communicate expectations, provides guidance, and show an active interest in student progress. Help parents and students understand program objectives and performance standards.

* Use formal and informal assessment strategies to manage student learning and monitor progress.

* Provide families information about how to reinforce skills learned at school.

* Help students identify and make use of supplemental instructional/media resources.

* Encourage self-reliance, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and performance skills.

* Help facilitate community participation in activities that enhance student learning.

* Maintain a positive learning environment. Facilitate student learning activities that encourage collaboration and positive peer relationships.

* Collaborate with other staff. Share knowledge and resources that enhance student learning.

* Evaluate student achievement/performance. Prepare progress reports.

* Consult with parents as needed (e.g., phone calls, e-mail, written notes, meetings, etc.).

* Consult with support personnel and families to address student concerns (e.g., academic difficulties, excessive absences, behavior mental/physical health, family/peer relations, etc.).

* Comply with federal and state policies/procedures for the education of students identified as having a disability. Prepare and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP). Work with staff to help ensure that services are provided in the least restrictive educational environment.

* Facilitate opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in an inclusive educational environment. Implement behavior management and/or prescribed medical plans when required.

* Monitor students and sanitize equipment as needed to maintain a healthy program environment.

* Promote the proper care and use of school property. Ensure that all materials are stored properly. Work with staff and students to address equipment safety and security.

* Maintain complete and accurate records. Submit required paperwork on time.

* Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.

* Uphold the student conduct code. Implement effective pupil management procedures. Provide appropriate student supervision.

* Take precautions to ensure safety. Watch for conduct and situations that may indicate a problem. Work with supervisors to manage or eliminate risk factors.

* Supervise assigned non-classroom activities.

* Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities.

* Pursue growth opportunities that enhance work performance and advance service center goals.

* Strive to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.

* Help students understand and embrace ethical conduct and democratic values.

* Provide prompt notification of delays or absences. Ensure that student lists and teaching materials are readily available for substitutes.

* Perform other specific job-related duties as directed.
