Summer School - Administrator for Elementary Programs

Purpose Statement
The Summer School Elementary Program Administrator leads and oversees the district’s summer school program for K-5 students, ensuring high‑quality educational experiences throughout the summer session.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, coordination, and implementation of the summer program.
  • Develop schedules and assign staff to meet academic and extracurricular needs.
  • Ensure curriculum and instructional plans align with district objectives and state requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and educational regulations.
  • Foster an inclusive culture that promotes ongoing teaching and learning improvement.
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to integrate special populations.
  • Supervise summer school at program sites before, during, and after scheduled times.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise summer staff, including teachers, support staff, and counselors.
  • Conduct staff training and regular meetings to discuss updates, concerns, and feedback.
  • Review staff attendance and timesheets each week before payroll reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate discipline, attendance, and academic records.
  • Manage student registration and provide support for academic interventions.
  • Track student progress, attendance, and achievement throughout the program.
  • Meet with students/parents to sustain attendance requirements.
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff and students.
  • Communicate updates to staff, parents, and guardians about student progress and events.
  • Develop and distribute informational materials, including handbooks and schedules.
  • Develop and manage the summer budget in collaboration with the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
  • Order materials and supplies; ensure instructional resources are available and functioning.
  • Supervise the school safety program and coordinate required drills.
  • Prepare and analyze summer reports, including student outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Provide post‑program evaluation to assess success and suggest improvements.
  • Submit performance reports to district administration.

Working Environment
The administrator will work up to 40 hours before training, full‑time during the summer, and up to 12 hours after program completion. Physical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and finger dexterity. The job requires 5% sitting, 40% walking, and 55% standing, and may involve temperature variations and hazardous conditions.

Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A.
  • Valid Oregon Teaching Certificate.
  • Valid or ability to obtain Oregon Administrator License.
  • Previous experience in educational administration/leadership.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional practices, and educational policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student, staff, and parent groups.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Language:
    Fluent English;
    Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred).

  • Multilingual background and experience with diverse cultures.
  • Experience working with broad range of individuals, cultures, and communities.
