Summer School – Internal and External Applicants
The Central School District will be offering Summer School this year, and this position is open to both internal and external applicants.
Important Dates:
- Program Planning: Up to 40 hours from April – June 22, 2026
- Training: June 22 to June 25
- Summer Program: June 29 – July 31, Monday through Thursday (Friday, dependent on funding)
- Family Engagement Events: Pre-program orientation; weekly evening activities
- Post Program Reports:
August 1 - Time: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Purpose Statement: The Summer School Secondary Program Administrator leads and oversees the district’s summer school program for students in grades 6th‑12th. The role involves providing strong leadership, managing program operations, coordinating staff, and ensuring the program runs efficiently and aligns with the district’s educational goals. The administrator works closely with staff, community partners, parents, and students to deliver a high‑quality, enriching educational experience that fosters student growth and achievement throughout the summer session.
The position will also collaborate with and support elementary programs when needed.
This job reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction or Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
Essential Functions- Program Management: Oversee planning, coordination, and implementation of the summer school program; develop schedules and assign staff; ensure curriculum alignment with district objectives and state requirements; maintain compliance with health, safety, and educational regulations; promote district values and create an inclusive culture; supervise summer school sites.
- Staff Supervision and Support: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise summer school staff; conduct staff training and meetings; review attendance and timesheets; manage discipline, attendance, and academic records.
- Student Enrollment and Support: Manage student registration; provide guidance and support, ensuring appropriate academic interventions; track student progress, attendance, and achievement; meet with students and/or parents to maintain attendance requirements; maintain a safe and emotionally healthy environment.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with staff, parents, and guardians; work with the Program Leadership Team and community stakeholders; develop and distribute informational materials, including handbooks, schedules, and policy guidelines.
- Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the summer school budget; order materials and supplies; ensure instructional resources are available and functioning.
- Safety, Program Evaluation and Reporting: Supervise the school safety program; coordinate required drills; prepare summer school reports; conduct post‑program evaluation; submit performance reports to district administration.
The administrator will work up to 40 hours before staff training, full time during the summer program, and up to 12 hours post‑program. Work outside the regular work day includes weekly family events in the evening and possible weekend work sessions prior to the start of the program. Physical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and hand dexterity.
The job requires 5% sitting, 40% walking, and 55% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.

- Valid and appropriate Oregon Teaching Certificate
- Valid or ability to obtain Oregon Administrator License
- Previous experience in educational administration or leadership
