Location: Forest City

Waldorf University and the Department of Criminal Justice seek candidates for a tenure eligible faculty position who are able to teach a wide variety of survey and upper-level courses at our residential campus. Areas of specialization are open; however, candidates who have strengths in teaching in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply criminology, research methods, ethics, mental health and crime, and special topics in criminology.

Preference will be given to someone with a demonstrated history of effective teaching and advising in higher education, a willingness to develop new courses within their specialization, as well as the ability to work within a multidisciplinary department serving the baccalaureate degree program for criminal justice. In addition, candidate should be comfortable using Blackboard Learning Management System for student communication and classroom management, albeit sometimes for remote instruction when necessary.

Possible teaching responsibilities may include any criminal justice course in the Waldorf catalog and introduction to sociology, social problems, and sociology of sport. Preference will be given to candidates who have a history teaching those courses.

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum of a Master's degree with at least 18 credits in criminal justice along with practical field experience or a Master's degree in criminal justice with at least 18 credits in sociology. A Ph.D. in criminal justice and/or criminology or a closely related field of study (such as psychology, sociology, public policy, etc.) preferred. Those who are ABD and continuing to work to completion of a Ph.D. will be considered.

A J.D. does not meet the qualifications for this position.

* Demonstrated classroom instructional experience

* A commitment and enthusiasm for the welfare of undergraduate students

* Ability to contribute academically to their discipline (conferences and publications)
