Chemical Process Engineer
Location:

Job Type: Full Time (On-Site).
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Chemical Process Engineer to lead the design, implementation, commissioning, and optimization of plating processes and production lines. This role will be responsible for the successful startup of new plating lines, process development, chemical management, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in plating or metal finishing operations and a strong understanding of chemical process control, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimization
- Design, develop, and optimize plating and metal finishing processes.
- Establish process parameters and operating conditions to ensure consistent product quality.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and operating procedures.
- Analyze process performance and implement improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Lead the installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of new plating lines.
- Support new process implementation and production ramp-up activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage chemical inventory and replenishment procedures.
- Oversee chemical handling, storage, and wastewater treatment operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NADCAP, and all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Support environmental health and safety initiatives across the facility.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor process stability and product quality metrics.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities within plating operations.
- Train operators and technicians on process requirements, equipment operation, and best practices.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of plating, electroplating, or metal finishing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to train and mentor operators and technicians.
- Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and improve.
Required:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- 3-7 years of experience in plating, electroplating, or metal finishing processes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience leading plating line startups, equipment commissioning, or new process implementation projects.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to use hands, fingers, and arms to operate office and manufacturing equipment.
- Visual acuity sufficient to perform job duties (with or without corrective lenses).
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
The following PPE is required while working in designated production areas:
- Safety glasses with side shields
- Close-toed shoes or steel-toed boots
