Mechanical Engineer
This is a contract position responsible for the design, development, and verification of mechanical components, including sheet‑metal and machined parts, and assembling them with electrical components.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a working knowledge of mechanical design tools (AutoCAD, Inventor) to convert requirements into diagrams and drawings.
- Understand metal part machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Apply packaging techniques for high‑performance electronics in harsh environments.
- Follow established guidelines to perform tasks and recommend appropriate procedures, processes, templates, and tools.
- Provide technical assistance for building and testing new products and systems.
- Offer basic troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services.
- Review mechanical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Ensure designs are producible and error‑free.
- Conduct component‑level reviews and in‑depth troubleshooting for manufacturing, field, and sales support.
- Assist the systems team in researching, designing, and evaluating systems or processes to meet customer requirements.
- Write mechanical performance requirements for product development projects.
- Perform detailed mechanical or fluid calculations to establish manufacturing standards or specifications.
- Use engineering theory and simulation models to assess feasibility, sustainability, and operating conditions.
- Compile data and write reports on existing or potential engineering studies or projects.
- Basic knowledge of 3D modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis and computational fluid dynamics.
- Familiarity with CNC design requirements.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and systems integration.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical component industry standards.
- Understanding of common mechanical engineering concepts.
- Work independently and in a team, adjusting priorities as needed.
- Multitask across multiple software platforms.
- Use hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, fluid pressure meters, and infrared thermal cameras.
- Inspect and troubleshoot computer hardware components at the assembly level.
- Use engineering software (Auto Desk Inventor, AutoCAD, Ansys simulation).
- Create, read, and compare technical data sheets.
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or protected person).
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of mechanical component design or manufacturing experience.
- 3+ years of experience with CAD software.
- Extensive knowledge of computer equipment (PCs, firewalls, switches, data acquisition systems, UPS, server racks, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of harsh mechanical environments.
