North Scott Community School District is looking to hire a Bus Driver. Apply today to join our team.

Qualifications
  • Have current CDL for the State of IOWA.
  • Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal

By providing safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curricular and extra‑curricular program.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and speed limits.
  • Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Monitors student behavior on the bus to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
  • Reinforce positive behavior and bus expectations.
  • Enforce school bus safety rules and regulations, addressing issues such as bullying, fighting, or disruptive behavior.
  • Support students with special needs, medical needs and/or accommodations as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans.
  • Reports any behavioral issues or incidents to the building principal or transportation supervisor and communicates effectively with parents when necessary.
  • Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • Follows designated routes and maintains the schedule.
  • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects. Fills out daily inspection sheets.
  • Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercises responsible leadership when on out‑of‑district school trips.
  • Transports only authorized students.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  • Maintains a professional, respectful, and friendly demeanor with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Participates in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment

Nine, ten, eleven or twelve‑month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated per contract language.
