Job Description
We are seeking a strategic Manufacturing Engineering Specialist for the Ironton site to drive operational excellence in the production of Industrial Thermal Units. This role focuses on the architectural and procedural optimization of the facility, including plant layout redesign, cost reduction initiatives, and successful execution of NPDI projects. You will be responsible for maximizing floor space utilization, streamlining material flow, and modernizing fabrication processes to support high-growth thermal product lines.
Responsibilitiesand Measurement Criteria
- Plant Layout & Space Optimization (35%):
Design and implement optimized facility floor plans using AutoCAD to maximize square footage, eliminate bottlenecks, and integrate new production cells. - Cost Reduction & Value Engineering (25%):
Lead year‑over‑year cost‑out projects focused on material yield, labor efficiency, and scrap reduction across all fabrication and assembly operations. - NPDI Project Execution (15%):
Manage the manufacturing launch of new thermal units, ensuring all NPDI milestones are met through rigorous Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews. - Process Updating & Standardization (15%):
Audit and modernize manufacturing routers, BOM, and SOPs to reflect current equipment capabilities and thermal testing standards. - Lean & Continuous Improvement (10%):
Facilitate Kaizen events to improve 5S standards and implement cellular manufacturing to reduce WIP inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering. - Experience:
7–10 years in manufacturing engineering, with proven track record in large‑scale facility layout and cost‑out management. Experience in thermal/HVAC or industrial fabrication is required. - Technical
Skills:
Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Factory Design or similar layout modeling software; advanced data analysis for cost‑benefit tracking. - Knowledge:
Mastery of Lean Manufacturing and advanced material flow logistics.
- Physical:
Extensive walking and standing on the Ironton manufacturing floor to conduct layout audits; able to lift up to 25 lbs. - Environmental:
Regular exposure to industrial fabrication and assembly environments.
