Financial Analyst - Foundation; Budgeting & Financial Reporting

As a Financial Analyst, you will perform a diverse set of tasks, including financial statement preparation, managing GL reconciliations, conducting trend and budget variance analyses, and participating in the preparation of organizational budgets and forecasts. You will handle financial and operational ad hoc analyses providing actionable insights that support decision-making and contribute to the organization’s financial strategy and planning. Advanced Excel skills are essential, including multi-variable embedded IF statements, Sum Ifs, Count Ifs, XLOOKUPs, slicers, and sparklines, as well as pivot tables and advanced charting and visualizations, including PowerPoint presentation development.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required to effectively present findings and collaborate with others. Success in this role depends on the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Assist in the development and implementation of operating budgets for City of Hope Medical Foundation. This includes budgeting process components such as planning, budget assumption development, and coordinating senior management review.
• Conduct budget variance analyses and evaluate revenue and cost efficiencies in various areas of the organization.
• Support month-end closing analyses, prepare financial statements and productivity reports, and monitor Medical Foundation’s capital/project spending.
• Develop financial and operational business review executive packages for Executive Committees, City of Hope Medical Group Board, and City of Hope Parent Board.
• Conduct financial analyses and synthesize available information to provide decision support to senior leadership.
• Perform financial reviews and analyses in partnership with internal departments and external advisors.
• Develop, maintain and distribute ad hoc reports and financial models as needed.
• Assist in the implementation of the City of Hope Medical Group physician incentive compensation model.
• Conduct physician incentive compensation and productivity analyses for City of Hope Medical Foundation and City of Hope Medical Group.
• Develop physician financial and operational performance reports and present findings to City of Hope Medical Foundation and City of Hope Medical Group.
• Develop business case models and benchmarking tools to evaluate existing and prospective physicians.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to structure and execute key strategic initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
• Two to three years of financial analytical experience (healthcare setting preferred), preferably with a large multi-specialty physician group or medical foundation.
