Job Summary
This AS400 Developer with EDI role requires excellent programming skills on the iSeries platform with a focus on analyzing and creating new programs using RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE). The position demands knowledge and hands‑on experience working on the EDI platform on iSeries, with an understanding of various EDI transaction types such as 810, 850, 820, and 856, preferably with Trusted Link knowledge.
The role involves very good knowledge of SQL concepts to analyze and modify complex SQL queries, embed SQL in SQLRPGLE, and perform cursor programming. Database concepts expertise is required to create and analyze physical files, logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures. The position requires good working knowledge of screen programming, including display files, subfiles, and printer files, as well as the ability to document business rules effectively and create data‑mapping documents after analyzing program flows and data flows.
ILE programming expertise is needed to analyze and create program modules, binding directories, and service programs. Working knowledge of message queue (MQ), MQ triggers, and embedding XML tags in RPG programs is essential. The role will involve owning a project task completely based on communication with the analysts at the client site and requires good communication skills.

- Good working knowledge of MDCMS and Turnover—the code configuration management tool
- Good working knowledge of X‑Analysis, a cross‑reference tool for iSeries
- Knowledge of triggers, message queuing for inter‑program/inter‑system communication
- ROBOT job scheduler knowledge, including creating and setting up scheduled jobs in iSeries
- Knowledge of normalized, denormalized tables, and Star Schema databases
- Working knowledge of iSeries Navigator to run queries and analyze the performance of SQL queries
- Knowledge in the retail domain, especially in areas like merchandising, warehouse management, and distribution
