Ocean Export Supervisor

Schedule: On-site, Monday through Friday

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Ocean Export Supervisor to lead daily export operations for our Itasca, Illinois office. This role is responsible for overseeing a small team, ensuring timely and compliant shipment processing, and driving continuous improvement of operational processes and workflows. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and committed to delivering excellent customer service while fostering a collaborative team environment.

• Supervise and support a small ocean export operations team to ensure efficient daily execution of shipments
• Oversee the full ocean export process, including booking, documentation, customs compliance, and carrier coordination
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve service or operational issues
• Ensure all export activities comply with international shipping regulations, company policies, and customer requirements
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, steamship lines, trucking companies, freight partners, and internal departments
• Lead continuous development and improvement of operational processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy, communication, and overall service performance
• Train, mentor, and develop team members to support professional growth and operational excellence
• Assist with workload balancing, scheduling, and performance management within the department
• Review and approve export documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, AES filings, and shipping instructions
• Support KPI tracking and reporting to ensure departmental goals and service standards are achieved
• Collaborate with management on strategic initiatives and operational enhancements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in ocean export freight forwarding or logistics operations
• Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
• Strong understanding of ocean export documentation, compliance requirements, and international shipping procedures
• Experience working with freight forwarding systems and transportation management software
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and accountability
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook
• Fully on‑site position located in Itasca, Illinois
• Standard Monday through Friday business schedule
