Overview
The Events and Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing event setup and breakdown, ensuring custodial and supply vendors deliver contracted services and products, performing general maintenance of the facility including buildings, grounds, and equipment, and handling a wide variety of semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. The technician also assists and supports other facilities staff with their tasks. The on‑site full‑time role works Monday through Friday plus a rotating weekend (Sunday) schedule, occasional evenings and Saturdays as required.
Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour based on experience and is paid bi‑weekly. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, short‑ and long‑term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, and a matched 403(b) retirement plan after one year of service.
- Work with church and school operations leadership and other ministry staff to plan and execute regular and special ministry events.
- Ensure meeting spaces and other designated rooms are properly arranged as scheduled or requested.
- Assist in all event setups and breakdowns.
- Help coordinate facilities staff presence during events and meetings.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members, employees, and visitors through regular monitoring of buildings and grounds.
- Perform general routine custodial duties including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance of custodial equipment.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of trash bags into dumpsters.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assist in on‑the‑job training of new staff on routine procedures.
- Perform cleaning functions specific to seasonal or project requirements.
- Document recommendations from inspections, note deficiencies, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Liaise with custodial vendor to ensure high quality services are delivered as contracted.
- Manage custodial supplies and inventories, ensuring timely ordering, delivery, stocking, and availability.
- Respond to assigned repair/maintenance work orders during the workday, prioritizing emergency calls.
- Submit daily reports of repair/maintenance assignments that cannot be completed during the workday.
- Complete regularly scheduled preventative maintenance assignments.
- Maintain overall grounds cleanliness as necessary.
- Perform snow and ice removal from walkways and campus roads as weather requires.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as floor cleaners, waxers, carpet cleaners, snow blowers, Gators, and landscaping equipment.
- Attend all work‑related training and assigned meetings.
- Rotate on‑call for emergencies and special events as scheduled.
- Carry out special projects assigned by Church Executive and Facility Maintenance Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and functional knowledge of scripture, familiarity with the Reformed tradition, and an ability to integrate Christian faith into day‑to‑day work.
- Enthusiastic, can‑do attitude with excellent customer service skills.
- Team player, willing to take direction from others and possessing strong communication skills.
- Self‑directed with the ability to multitask.
- Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with facility procedures and adherence to building codes.
- General working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and sheetrock.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
Education: High school or equivalent.
Experience:
- Five years of facilities experience (required).
- Event setup/execution experience (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR (required).
