Assistant Controller

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
• Review financial results and perform variance analysis, including month-over-month and budget-to-actual comparisons
• Prepare and record month-end accruals; review all accruals for completeness and accuracy
• Accounting Operations Oversight
• Oversee core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and inventory-related transactions
• Serve as the primary escalation point for accounting and financial issues
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of operational accounting processes, including invoicing, work order flow, and inventory movements
• Revenue, Payroll & Cash Flow
• Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP across rental, parts, and service revenue streams
• Oversee and review payroll processing through ADP, including new hires, compensation changes, and variance analysis; coordinate final approvals prior to submission
• Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts to support financial planning and decision-making
• Assets, Inventory & Compliance
• Manage fixed asset and lease accounting in compliance with GAAP, including lease accounting standards
• Oversee inventory accuracy and related accounting processes
• Coordinate with external auditors by preparing supporting documentation and audit schedules
• Controls, Process Improvement & Leadership
• Strengthen internal controls and proactively identify and implement process improvements across accounting and operational workflows
• Perform and oversee periodic control activities, such as inventory spot checks and cycle count reviews
• Assist in supervising and developing accounting team members by reviewing work, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to established processes and controls

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Demonstrated experience owning or leading the month-end close process and financial reporting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience in inventory, service, rental, or distribution environments strongly preferred
• Experience in multi-location or multi-state environments, including varying tax and regulatory requirements, preferred
• Proven ability to analyze financials, identify issues, and drive resolution
• Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
