Intended candidate

Individuals with ~1 year of experience deploying, managing, and operating workloads on AWS

The target candidate should have the following general IT knowledge and experience:

• Techniques for monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting
• Networking concepts (for example, DNS, TCP, IP, firewalls)
• Implementation of architectural requirements (for example, high availability, performance, capacity)
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language
• Familiarity with at least one major operating system
• Understanding of cloud computing
• Containerization and orchestration basics
• Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and Git

The target candidate should have the following AWS knowledge:

• The AWS Well-Architected Framework
• AWS storage and container solutions
• AWS monitoring tools
• How to use the AWS Management Console, the AWS CLI, infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions, and AWS Cloud Formation
• AWS networking and security services
• How to implement AWS security controls and compliance requirements
• Cloud financial management
• Operations within hybrid and multi-VPC environments
• AWS database services (for example, Amazon RDS, Amazon Dynamo
  
  DB, Amazon Elasti Cache)
• AWS compute services (for example, Amazon EC2, AWS Lambda, Amazon Elastic Container Service [Amazon ECS])

• Format: 65 questions; either multiple choice or multiple response
• Language available:
  English, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese
• Tests can be completes at a Pearson VUE testing center or online proctored exam

This certification is valid for 3 years. Before your certification expires, you can recertify by passing the latest version of this exam, or by earning the AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer - Professional, which will automatically recertify this Associate-level certification.

Individuals who already have the AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator - Associate are not required to take the AWS Certified Cloud Ops Engineer - Associate exam. The AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator - Associate certification will remain valid for 3 years from the date it was earned.

The AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer - Professional and AWS Certified Security - Specialty are certifications that other cloud professionals have earned to advance further in roles like systems administrator and cloud engineer.
