Position Overview

This position oversees the management of all manufacturing areas related to cards and may include other product lines. The responsibilities include ensuring that all approved products are manufactured on schedule, meet the company’s quality standards, and satisfy customers while implementing cost‑effective measures. The role also focuses on enhancing customer and employee satisfaction and improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and equipment.

The Production Manager works onsite 5 days a week at our Somerset, NJ office, from 6 pm to 2:30 am.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision of manufacturing staff.
  • Assist senior staff in developing and formulating long‑ and short‑range planning, policies, programs, and objectives.
  • Manage policy deployment in lean manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, and on‑time delivery.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data, and maintain production standards.
  • Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff; take corrective action as needed and consult with Human Resources.
  • Direct and monitor department supervisors to achieve manufacturing plan goals while following safety procedures.
  • Act as liaison between department supervisors, subordinates, and executive management to communicate decisions and policies.
  • Achieve optimal employee levels and material usage to meet annual budgetary plans.
  • Ensure efficient staffing and equipment utilization.
  • Maintain adherence to production schedules and ensure operators are trained in safe, efficient practices per quality standards.
  • Provide leadership for employee relations through communications, coaching, training, and development.
  • Oversee production of cards.
  • Ensure job work orders and production schedules are available and properly utilized.
  • Align operating procedures with the company’s safety and security programs; promote safe practices.
Other Important Responsibilities
  • Develop an operator cross‑training program to optimize labor availability and utilization.
  • Establish and maintain an operations dashboard of key performance indicators to guide department objectives and improvement initiatives such as process yield, on‑time delivery, and machine efficiency.
  • Monitor production performance and recommend improvements.
  • Perform other job functions as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years (or more) of relevant experience.
  • Ability to relate to employees and understand their needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self‑check work.
  • Excellent time‑management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative team player with an adaptable, professional demeanor and creative, innovative mindset.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sustain office work, including sitting/standing as needed, computer use, and telephone usage.
  • Must be able to sustain factory work for 8+ hours per day, including standing at machinery, reaching, pulling, operating machinery, walking through the shop, and using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • Typical office environment exposure: ambient room temperature, lighting, and standard office equipment.
  • Production floor exposure requires PPE.
  • Professional office environment utilizing computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
