Quality Technician – Electromechanical Inspection Overview of Role

This position will be responsible for assisting in a range of quality control inspection roles and for carrying out the inspection of various mechanical and electronic parts, sub‑assemblies, and full assembly review. The Quality Technician will use precision mechanical measurement tools and electronic test equipment to verify conformity of materials and products to documented engineering specifications and standards. This full‑time, on‑site position reports to the Head of Manufacturing and is based in Jessup, MD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform receiving, in‑process, and final inspections of incoming parts, materials, and electro‑mechanical products at both part and integrated system levels, using engineering documentation. Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) as required.
  • Document inspection results and release product for stock, next process, or shipment once acceptance criteria are met.
  • Identify, segregate, report, and control nonconforming product in accordance with AS9100 requirements, exercising professional judgement to determine if an item is nonconforming and escalating disposition decisions to authorized reviewers.
  • Communicate quality issues to cross‑functional teams for awareness and resolution.
  • Perform measurements to verify dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and electrical characteristics using tools such as calipers, micrometers, GO/NO‑GO gages, multimeters, or other inspection tools.
  • Verify tool calibration status, maintain records, and schedule or coordinate recalibration as required.
  • Support manufacturing compliance with internal and external requirements, such as ESD, document/revision control, and work instruction usage.
  • Assist Manufacturing in continuous process improvement efforts.
  • Review completed inspection data, such as supplier CMM reports, to verify conformity with engineering documentation.
  • Move materials within the work area – including parts, tools, and equipment for inspection, assembly, testing, or shipment. This may include the packaging or unpackaging of raw material and/or finished products.
  • Maintain clean, organized inspection areas and ensure physical and electronic quality records are accurate, complete, and properly stored for traceability.
Required Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 4+ years of relevant QA/QC inspection experience.
  • Experience working with various standard electrical test and measurement equipment with instruction.
  • Experience using engineering documentation such as engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, work instructions, inspection plans, test procedures, workmanship criteria, wiring diagrams, and schematics to ensure product conformity.
  • Trained in GD&T application and verification.
  • Knowledge of machining materials and processes affecting quality.
  • Excellent computer skills with standard productivity software including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to capture clear inspection photographs with proper labeling, scale, and traceability.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; experience working across Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASQ CQI or related certification.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 and IPC‑A‑620.
  • Self‑starter, process‑oriented.
  • Experience with AS9100 sampling, AQL, lot sizing, and ANSI/ASQ Z1.4.
  • PLM experience, preferably Arena; familiar with ECO/ECR.
  • Experience with hipot testing and mold/insulation inspection.
  • Skilled with optical comparators and CMM.
  • Aerospace, Defense, Robotics, or Maritime experience.

U.S. Person status required.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for non‑exempt: $25.00 – $44.71 per hour.
