RN - Acute/ER Day Shift (Full Time/Townsend)

Employment Status: Full‑Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 0.90 = 72 hours every two weeks (Non‑Exempt)
Starting Wage (DOE): $33.66 - 42.07
Working under general supervision, the RN employs the full nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—while utilizing both theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to promote and maintain patient health. Requires integrating evidence-based nursing practices aligned with national standards to achieve quality outcomes. Accountable for the quality of nursing care provided, overseeing the care plan with a focus on maintaining professionalism. Involved in delivering exceptional nursing care to patients in acute, swing bed, and emergency care settings, in close collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.

- Meet all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements, maintaining competency in standards related to environment, employee and patient safety, and job performance.
- Utilize a holistic approach and evidence-based nursing practices to integrate the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—into a goal‑directed plan of care for each patient.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver patient‑centered care that meets specific needs.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in patient medical records, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Adhere to safety standards, proactively identifying and addressing potential safety issues with appropriate actions.
- Maintain proficiency in using relevant equipment, understanding pharmacology, and interpreting laboratory values pertinent to patient care.
- Integrate evidence‑based practices supported by nursing research into specialty areas to enhance patient outcomes.
- Apply performance improvement principles to continually assess and improve the quality of patient care.
- Take responsibility for personal and professional growth, meeting all system and departmental educational requirements.
- Demonstrate supportive and caring behaviors in communication with patients, families, visitors, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Provide care that is appropriate and sensitive to the population‑specific needs of each patient.
- Delegate assignments and tasks to CNA with supervision to ensure patient care is completed according to Billings Clinic Policy.
- Attend department trainings and meetings to stay informed on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Two (2) Year / Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Four (4) Year / Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Preferable experience in acute care or critical access hospital setting
- ACLS – Within 6 months of hire – Must obtain prior to working independently on the unit.
- PALS – Within 6 months of hire – Must obtain prior to working independently on the unit.
- TNCC – Within 1 year of hire
- Current Montana license as a Registered Nurse – At hire
- BLS/Healthcare Provider
