Qualifications- College hours, high school diploma or GED
- Texas Operator’s License
- Five years’ experience in maintenance trade
- Ability to direct the work of others
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees
- Ability to operate assigned equipment
- Ability to interpret plans, shop drawings, and specifications
- Proficient in computer operation and ability to utilize the software programs used by the department
- Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and ADA codes
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Physically able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
The Assistant Maintenance Supervisor will assist and provide support to the Area Maintenance Supervisor in order to maintain the physical integrity of district campuses and facilities and all aspects of the Maintenance and Operations department.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Provide support to the Area Maintenance Supervisor in the day-to-day operations.
- Assist in the supervision of assigned employees to ensure efficiency, productivity and safe working environment.
- Work in conjunction with the Area Maintenance Supervisor and Warehouse Department to schedule preventative maintenance activities to keep equipment in optimal working order.
- Assume additional responsibilities in absence of the Area Maintenance Supervisor as needed to manage assigned teams.
- Manage the department work order system and track work orders through completion.
- Train assigned employees in skills needed to meet job requirements.
- Ensure, coordinate and document all safety programs.
- Ensure all life safety equipment is in compliance and good operating status with proper supporting documentation.
- Assist with Building Modification processes and projects.
- Lead teams relating to Fire Marshall pre-inspection walks, general inspections, facility bond assessments, and annual portable moves.
- Conduct, monitor, and document all required equipment or facility checks.
- Effectively communicate with campus administrators, department heads and stakeholders.
- Attend professional development training as needed.
- Be available on short notice for emergency or overtime. Required to carry and answer district cell phone for after-hours calls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Computer, phone, smart phone, lightweight truck, van, trailer, and various maintenance tools.
Working ConditionsThis position is considered essential to Maintenance & Operations. It requires maintaining emotional control under stress. Frequent district-wide travel, regular prolonged and irregular hours; work indoors and outdoors to conduct on-site inspection of all facilities and projects; work around machinery with moving parts; work on ladders or scaffolding.
