Position Details: 8.0 hrs/day, 7:00am - 3:30pm, 260 days/year
Pay Range: $40.59 - $42.72/hr (depending on verified industry journeyman experience)

The job of "Journey-Level Electrician" is done for the purpose/s of maintaining electrical systems and components in safe operating condition; providing information on proper operation of electrical systems; identifying location of existing electrical systems; determining the efficient installation of systems; ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and directing assigned workers as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Analyzes drawings for the purpose of identifying location of existing electrical systems and determining the efficient installation of additional systems.
- Installs electrical systems including communications, audio/visual, alarms, HVAC, (e.g. energy management/ boiler controls, signal system, commercial cooking equipment), etc. for the purpose of maintaining them in safe operating condition.
- Provides list of supplies, equipment and tools needed for the purpose of ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Orients staff for the purpose of providing information on proper operation of electrical systems.
- Repairs electrical systems including communications, audio visual, alarms (e.g. energy management/ boiler controls, signal system, commercial cooking equipment), etc. for the purpose of ensuring proper/safe operation of equipment.
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g. facility damage, power outages, electrical systems outages, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Transports various items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job site as required to complete tasks.
- Coordinates schedules with other maintenance personnel for the purpose of meeting shift requests and prioritizing work orders.
- Performs necessary preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Coordinates with state and local electrical inspectors for permits and inspections.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Assists other trades as needed for the purpose of meeting demands and completing work orders in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with district and other trades' staff for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
- Directs personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce and meeting shift requirements.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.

- Experience
Required:
Prior journeyman-level electrician experience. Minimum 12 years of electrician experience preferred. - Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities
Required:
Skills to: operate hand and power tools used in craft; develop, read and interpret plans/blueprints; perform basic math to make calculations. - Knowledge of: methods and use of materials, tools and equipment used in craft; appropriate building codes;
Hazard Communication and Safety Data Sheet requirements (MSDS), and electrical systems components. - Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, establish priorities, work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/ pulling, stooping/kneeling/crouching, reaching/handling/finger dexterity, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation/color vision.
- Training
Required:
Journeyman electrician, or 12 years electrician experience. - Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing
Required:
Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, and valid CPR/First Aid cards. - Other Requirements:
Must have and maintain a phone and be willing to respond to off-hour emergency calls; must have own vehicle; must have excellent moral character and be able to get along with staff, students and adults; must present a positive public image, maintain a neat, clean personal appearance, wear clothing appropriate to tasks being performed, and have regular and consistent work attendance
