Kent Youth and Family Services (KYFS) is hiring teachers for our Summer Splash Program. The Summer Splash Program assists children and student from kindergarten through 6th grade in the development of their academic skills. And assists in English acquisition skills for program participants. Teachers will develop lesson plans and learning activities that actively engage students in reading. They provide assessment and feedback that encourages students and improves learning.

SCHEDULE:
Part time, Monday to Thursday beginning mid June through the end of the program, which runs through the end of August. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the program.
TARGET PAY for this position: $25 per hour/DOE
BENEFITS: This position is eligible for state mandated benefits only.
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS/MISC
- Must have and maintain a teaching certification.
- Two or more years of experience working directly with youth, preferrable in a class room setting.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task as needed.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and be sensitive to cultural dynamics
- Experience working with low-income, cultural, and racial diverse youth and their families preferred.
- Must have or be able to acquire a CPR and first aid certificate.
- Must be able to pass a Washington State Patrol and a federal background check.
- Assist in the development, and implementation of curriculum to meet educational goals as they pertain to the academic programming among youth of Summer Splash program.
- Develop and prepare lesson plans based on the assessment of participants needs to educate students at their academic levels.
- Engage in academic activities with selected students either one-on-one or with small groups.
- Actively engage with all students and create a positive innovative educational climate for students to learn in.
- Work with other staff, teacher assistants and/or volunteers to assess student progress and adjust curriculum accordingly.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with supervisor, co-workers, volunteers, participants, parents, and other service providers
- Write monthly site reports and maintain daily site attendance, incident and accident forms, and other pertinent reports/records.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and training programs as required.
