Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full‑service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include non‑destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non‑ferrous alloys.

Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry‑film lubricants and Teflon. Current approvals include the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP), Boeing Commercial Aircraft Company, Boeing Defense and Space, Boeing/Philadelphia, Boeing Long Beach, Grumman, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Goodrich, Bombardier, Cessna and Sikorsky among many others.

Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012 and became part of the Aerostructures Division. As a defense contractor, Protective Coatings Inc. is registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp and is fully compliant with all relevant facets of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.

Position

Summary

Selected candidates for the Production Supervisor position will deliver results in a multi‑shift processing environment. Operational performance will be measured via metrics to meet the daily, weekly, and monthly goals of production. A Production Supervisor will perform a variety of functions including managing and reporting on daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly Flex targets, tracking and planning their department’s staffing needs, communicating and disseminating production targets and corporate policies from the facility’s Management team down to their hourly workforce, and identifying, investigating, and resolving production and personnel issues within a fast‑paced, diverse work force.

Candidates must be flexible and adaptable, resourceful and innovative, present a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and be a good communicator who can represent the company positively. Other responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized work area and adhering to organization safety rules and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyze, establish, and communicate performance standards to all leads and employees.
  • Meet with employees daily to reflect on problems, solutions, and challenges; thereby creating a culture of continuous improvement and contributing toward becoming a learning organization.
  • Implement and coordinate cross training of department employees to eliminate skill gaps, ensuring a more skilled and adaptable workforce. Insure the completion of required competency forms and certifications, and maintain an employee skill matrix.
  • Instill and maintain a positive, can‑do team atmosphere; hold regular team meetings, assign team members’ tasks, and coordinate required support services needed. Use area boards to ensure results.
  • Comply with all environmental safety practices and regulations. Conduct EH&S self‑inspection and safety huddles in areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise the conduct of Root Cause Corrective Action working sessions when safety and quality escapes occur.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
  • Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for products.
  • Execute schedules and coordinate activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Review production and operating metrics and reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.
