Staff Development Nurse (RN) – Skilled Nursing Facility

Facility: Metcalfe Nursing and Rehabilitation
Location: Edmonton, KY
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift

Position Summary

The Staff Development Nurse is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing educational and clinical training programs for nursing staff within the skilled nursing facility. This role supports regulatory compliance, staff competency, infection prevention, and quality resident care in a deficiency-free environment committed to clinical excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate orientation and onboarding for newly hired nursing staff.

  • Provide ongoing staff education, in-service training, and competency evaluations.

  • Maintain current records for employee education, certifications, and annual competencies.

  • Assist with infection prevention and control programs, including surveillance, education, and compliance monitoring.

  • Ensure compliance with CMS, OSHA, CDC, and Kentucky state regulations.

  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Support survey readiness efforts and maintain standards contributing to the facility’s deficiency-free status.

  • Mentor and support nursing staff to promote professional growth and high‑quality resident care.

  • Conduct clinical audits and identify opportunities for additional training or process improvement.

  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to develop and update clinical policies and procedures.

  • Promote a positive and professional work environment focused on teamwork and resident‑centered care.

Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky.

  • Long‑term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.

  • Previous experience in staff development, education, or infection prevention preferred.

  • Knowledge of skilled nursing regulations and clinical standards.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and teaching skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple responsibilities.
