Job Title:
Bilingual Technical Writer (Ammunition & Explosives)
Location:
Gatineau, Quebec (NCR) - Hybrid but mostly remote
Key Responsibilities The Technical Writer will require a comprehensive knowledge of Canadian, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and other allied A&E;
The Technical Writer will be required to create and review English technical documentation, as well as modify and verify French transcripts of technical documents for subsequent approval.
Analyze written materials to summarize and generate technical content for official publications. Materials may include Ammunition & Explosives (A&E) specifications (technical Statements of Work/Requirements), notes, drawings, writing manuals, user guides, and related documentation.
Modify and verify translated A&E technical orders or other A&E technical documentation in both English and French.
Modify, validate, and compile technical A&E documentation, including but not limited to technical publications, specifications, equipment and system data lists, and drawings, by incorporating approved changes, verifying accuracy and compliance with applicable standards, and preparing documentation for review and approval by the appropriate authority.
Gather information and analyze technical A&E documentation and content.
Study existing material and interact with technical authorities and industry, as required, to generate technical content.
Create accurate, complete, and concise A&E documentation.
Assimilate and convey A&E technical material in a concise and effective manner.
Generate A&E publications and technical documents in accordance with Government of Canada and departmental publishing guidelines.
Review A&E documents, drawings, and associated data for conformance to established standards.
Plan, research, and write A&E manuals, specifications, and other non-journalistic articles.
Use word-processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, and graphics software packages to produce final or camera-ready documents.
What you must bring to this role Must have a valid Secret-level clearance with the Government of Canada
Must be fluently bilingual in French and English
Must have a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of experience, within the last one-hundred-and-twenty (120) months, preparing and/or updating Ammunition & Explosives (A&E) technical orders or other A&E specific technical documentation.
Must have a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of experience, within the last one-hundred-and-twenty (120) months, reviewing, modifying, and/or validating translations of A&E technical orders and/or other A&E technical documentation involving English and French.
Should have one of the following certificates/qualifications related to the field of Ammunition and Explosives: Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) (AEXN)
Ammo Engineer (AEXO)
Rank Qualification (RQ) / Qualification Level (QL) 6 Ammunition Technician
Ammunition Life Cycle Materiel Manager (LCMM)
