Engineering & Product Development Manager

EZ STAK is seeking an Engineering & Product Development Manager to lead the design, development, and execution of innovative solutions that support the evolving needs of infrastructure and government fleet customers. This is a highly visible leadership role that sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, sales, and marketing—responsible for translating customer insights and business priorities into production‑ready products that drive revenue growth and operational excellence.

In this role, you will lead the engineering team while overseeing the full product development lifecycle, from concept and customer insight through to production launch. You will play a key role in shaping the company’s product roadmap, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality while supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. Your work will directly impact the company’s ability to bring new products to market, improve margins, and scale operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & Team Development
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high‑performing engineering talent.
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and accountability standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews and mentor team members.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Execution
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through production release.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Coordinate cross‑functionally with Sales, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain.
Manufacturing & Process Optimization
  • Align engineering design with manufacturability and cost‑efficiency.
  • Drive lean initiatives, automation improvements, and waste reduction.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring production or design issues.
  • Standardize engineering documentation and revision control.
Technical Oversight & Compliance
  • Ensure engineering designs meet industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical direction for complex production or product challenges.
  • Maintain design control processes and change management discipline.
Product Development
  • Define and execute the product development strategy.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end product development process from concept to launch.
  • Collaborate with Leadership, Sales, and Marketing to ensure product development initiatives align with business strategy.
  • Conduct ethnographic research to get voice of customer in all product development initiatives.
Budget & Resource Management
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Allocate engineering resources based on business priorities.
  • Monitor project costs and protect margin targets.
  • Support cost‑reduction initiatives through design optimization.
Position Requirements Education & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure and government fleet industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in product development and process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with CAD software and ERP systems (Epicor an asset).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and cross‑functional priorities.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills.
