Performs routine and emergency maintenance on the fire sprinklersystems and equipment, components, and subsystems in the ASG-KU area ofoperations. Performs inspection,testing, troubleshooting and repairs of fire sprinkler water-basedsystems; to include but not limited to firepumps, jockey pumps, and associated equipment. Performs duties in secure, critical, andsensitive designated areas under control of the U.S. Army in accordance withcontract requirements. Ensures requirements for inspection, testing andmaintenance are accomplished IAW with UFC 3-601-02 and NFPA 25.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Accomplishthe maintenance and repairs of water based sprinkler/suppression systems andother equipment that is a component part of the overall fire protection system.
Performsinspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems IAW UFC 3-601-02using NFPA 25 as guidelines.
Shallbe capable of performing, Main drain tests, 5 year internals, Pitot gaugetesting, Hydrostatic testing, Backflow prevention and should have experience inall other required maintenance tasking per applicable standards.
Utilizesvarious hand tools, shop tools, and equipment in accomplishing repairs andmaintenance of these systems and components.
Troubleshootsrepairs or replaces defective components of the water based sprinkler system,Fire Pumps, Standpipe, Water storage tanks, pump controllers, water flow andtamper devices.
Requestsand maintains accountability for parts, tools, equipment and materials requiredfor work performance and work assignments.
Maybe required to conduct both routine and emergency services after normal workperiods.
Performsthe majority of work in the sensitive and secure areas of militaryinstallations and facilities in accordance with the established securityprocedures of the U.S. Army and contract requirements.
Responsiblefor safe operation, cleanliness and operator maintenance of assigned vehicle.
Prepares and completes requireswork documents.
Complies withsafety/environmental standards and safe work practices.
Performs other duties as assigned
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Vehicle, special equipment, standard industry tools and workmaterials.
Work is generally conducted in an shop environment. However,duties may involve traveling in the out of doors to other locations with apotential exposure to extreme climatic conditions, specifically desert heat. .Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire and Safety Regulations and published companywork rules.
Employees usually carry only upto 50lbs of materials, items include but are not limited to tool bags, laddersand associated fire alarm parts, devices and panels.Climbing on ladders and using tools of thetrade are common place.
Education/Certifications : Three (3) years related experience may besubstituted for three (3) years ofeducation, if degree is required.
Qualificationshave to meet the criteria as outlined in UFC 3-601-02.Recognized journeyman or craftsman-levelqualification, program for fire sprinkler systems.Examples include, but are not limited to,certification in Water based sprinkler (NICET level II) formalized labororganization-based journeyman training, or valid current sprinkler license fromany state, documented work experience with a fire sprinkler inspection andservicing company, or factory training. Minimumtwo years documented experience as a Fire Suppression/Sprinkler SystemTechnician. Examples include: previous job descriptions, DD214 and Military/CivilianPerformance reports, job experience letter on company or corporate letterheadfrom previous employer(s).
Musthave education and knowledge of fire suppression/sprinkler systems, the abilityto perform hydraulic calculations, is preferred. .
Mustpossess a current stateside driver’s license unless otherwise stipulated.
Documentedtwo years’ experience in maintenance, repair, installation, and inspection andtesting of UL/FM listed fire suppressions/sprinkler systems and supportingcomponents.
LanguageProficiency: Should have sufficient knowledge of English to understandinstructions and accomplish work documents and reports.
Test & Inspections, Maintenance& Repairs, Installation of pipe and valves, Use of threading machine andhand tools. Knowledge of NFPA 13, 20,22 and 25. Able to read andinterpret blue prints.
