Underthe supervision of the Automotive Maintenance Supervisor, performs field andlimited sustainment level maintenance tasks on combat systems such as M1A2Abrams Tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Self-Propelled Howitzer Hull andTurret systems.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Diagnosesand troubleshoots malfunctions and performs field and sustainment levelmaintenance tasks on the suspension systems, steering systems,mechanic/hydraulic systems, auxiliary power units, fireextinguisher/suppression systems, gas particulate systems, vehicular mounted armament,gun turret drive system and the fire control system.
Diagnosesmalfunctions, troubleshoots and performs maintenance on carriage-mountedarmament, associated fire control and related systems and components on allself-propelled field artillery weapon systems.
Determineserviceability and disposition of defective assemblies, sub-assemblies andparts.
Performsmaintenance adjustments and repairs on job related tools and equipment.
Installsequipment modifications and provides technical assistance as required.
Preparemaintenance and supply forms and reports.
Performsother duties or administrative functions as directed.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Mechanic’s Hand Tools, Shop Tools,Multi-Meter, Gauges, Jacks Stands, and other forms of TMDE, Electronic Computers,Printers and other forms of office equipment.
Work is generally conducted in a shop environment.However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area withpotential exposure to extreme climatic conditions/ambient temperatures. Workwill require lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sittingand working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure tophysical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited tohead, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.Must comply with OSHA, EPA, and Fire Regulations and published company workrules.
Workmay require heavy lifting heavy components, stooping climbing, prolongedstanding, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potentialcould exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.
Education/Certifications : One-year related experience in weapons maintenancemay be substituted for one year of
education, if degree isrequired.
HighSchool Diploma or equivalent required. MOS 91A, 91M, 91P or civilian/militaryequivalent preferred. (Must provide DD214 or training certificate(s) tovalidate training/experience). A valid Driver’s license and the ability toobtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait HeavyDriver’s License are required.
Minimumof Two (2) years of maintenance experience on M1 Abrams Tanks, Bradley FightingVehicles and Self-Propelled Howitzers.
Must have knowledge of machines and tools,including their designs, uses, repair, maintenance.
Familiar with the use of military electronic orpaper version technical manuals.
Ability to read, analyzes, understand andinterprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, reports technicalpublications and documents.
The ability to troubleshoot, determining causes ofoperating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Must have excellent communications skills, bothwritten and oral, in English.
Ability to work in a diverse workforce.
Requires a collaborative work style, fosteringcooperation, and teamwork.
Must exercise discretion and good sound judgement.
Knowledgeable of the Army Maintenance ManagementPrinciples and Standards.
Knowledgeableof physical security of government issued equipment
Possessesexcellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be customer-oriented anddiverse.
Abilityto handle confidential company and employee information with completediscretion.
Abilityto work effectively with employees and management of all levels to includemulti-national staff, superiors, and ranking military officers and non-commissionedofficers.
Musthave good understanding in the use of MS Office other related applications.
