About CentilCentil, a Sabel Systems company, is a mission-focused engineering team supporting high‑priority space defense programs in the US Space Force portfolio, including missile defense and missile warning systems for Space Systems Command. The work spans Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD product development, and space‑domain systems engineering, and the people are embedded directly in the programs they support.
In January 2026, Sabel Systems acquired Centil to expand its Advanced Engineering Services capabilities. The team now has access to a broader portfolio of programs and deeper corporate resources while preserving technical ownership and a small‑team culture.
About the roleThe Cybersecurity Engineer will identify and mitigate cybersecurity vulnerabilities for a ground system supporting a new United States Space Force (USSF) satellite constellation. The engineer will work with the program’s engineering team to architect, develop, and sell‑off products to a government customer. Work includes configuration development, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance and testing, and delivery of a secure environment for Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) mission operations.
Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and OPIR missions is a significant bonus.
The role is required to be onsite in Boulder and the candidate must be a US citizen eligible for a US Government security clearance and willing to move or live near Boulder, CO.
What you’ll do- Develop cyber plans and procedures for an environment that includes Juniper network devices, Red Hat Linux, Red Hat Identity Manager, IBM AIX, iSCSI storage, VSAN, ESXi, and VMware.
- Work with systems engineers to develop solutions that manage cybersecurity risks within systems.
- Perform cybersecurity scans, analyze results, and harden systems.
- Generate documentation required to achieve approval to operate systems.
- Interface with the customer, leveraging strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Cyber Security Engineering.
- Experience with cyber tools such as ACAS and HBSS.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards.
- Experience running DISA SCAP scans and working with DISA STIGs for operating systems, network devices, and other infrastructure services (LDAP, AD, ESXi, virtual machines).
- Ability to work with system and security SMEs to harden and mitigate vulnerabilities identified by cyber tools.
- Experience with incident response and management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work full time onsite in Boulder.
- Strong focus on internal and external customer success.
- CompTIA Security+ and CISSP or similar certifications.
- Cybersecurity engineering experience with embedded systems for DoD.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, programming languages, and operating systems.
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Understanding of ethical hacking and penetration testing.
- Experience working in an agile workflow.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR).
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, including the ability to deliver high‑level messaging to senior leaders and explain technical concepts to non‑technical personnel.

- DoD Secret or higher clearance is preferred; all applicants must be US citizens eligible for a US Government security clearance.
Based on experience and skill, most candidates will earn between $120,000 and $160,000 per year.
