RN, Intake Specialist – Behavioral Health

Schedule:

Night shift (11:00pm–7:30am)

$5,000 Sign on Bonus!

Responsibilities
  • Support the department with clinical, operational, and administrative excellence.
  • Receive inquiry calls and assist callers with scheduling face‑to‑face, phone, or tele‑assessment triages based on safety risk.
  • Ensure assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients presenting for assessment.
  • Screen for medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
  • Perform comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care for patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric/emotional disorders; coordinate with the clinical team/on‑call physician to meet care needs.
  • Interpret treatment plan to patients and family to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment.
  • Complete administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary.
  • Administer nursing care to ill or injured patients, including direct care.
  • Coordinate and deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric/emotional disorders.
  • Ensure safety and well‑being of each patient.
  • Ensure all medical orders are followed, initiate and follow treatment planning, and act as patient advocate at all times.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program or hold relevant state licensure.
  • Current unencumbered license to practice nursing issued by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
  • Experience in patient assessments, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
