RN, Assessment Specialist/Intake Specialist

Schedule
:
Weekend Days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) 7am – 7pm.

Compensation
: $5,000 sign‑on bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Supports the department with clinical, operational, and administrative excellence.
  • Receives inquiry calls and assists callers with scheduling face‑to‑face, phone, or tele‑assessment triages based on safety risk.
  • Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental‑health professional of patients presenting for assessment.
  • Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
  • Performs comprehensive assessment and provides quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders, coordinating with the clinical team/on‑call physician.
  • Interprets treatment to patients and families to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care.
  • Completes administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers as needed.
  • Administers nursing care to ill or injured persons, assisting in direct care.
  • Coordinates and delivers quality general and psychiatric nursing care for patients hospitalized for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders.
  • Ensures patient safety and well‑being.
  • Ensures all medical orders are followed, initiates and follows treatment planning, and acts as a patient advocate.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or holds relevant state licensure.
  • Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility. Direct experience with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
  • Experience in patient assessments, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.
