Role Summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Lafayette, Indiana. The RN provides perioperative patient care, ensures operating room readiness, and collaborates with the surgical team to maintain patient safety and quality care.

Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications
  • OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room with required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies
  • Position and prepare patients for surgery; ensure safety and comfort
  • Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols
  • Anticipate needs of the surgical team; provide instruments and support promptly
  • Monitor patient condition during surgery and document changes
  • Handle surgical instruments, sterilization, and disposal per facility protocols
  • Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport
  • Document all aspects of perioperative patient care accurately
  • Participate in patient handoffs for pre- and post-operative care
  • Cleanup and restock the operating room between cases
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure policy and standard compliance
  • Follow hospital safety rules and proper PPE use
  • Performs other duties within the scope of practice
Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
  • English language proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; PC skills
  • Physical abilities: ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push/pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team
  • Technical/motor skills for instrument handling and procedure support
  • Mental capability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage variable schedules
  • Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication
