IT Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (Senior Data Lakehouse Engineer)

The IT Senior Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of the company’s data lakehouse infrastructure. At Tallgrass, this role requires a highly skilled professional with 8–10 years of experience in data management and project planning within the Microsoft technology stack, leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure Machine Learning, Power BI, Oracle Analytics, and Snowflake to maintain the organization’s data landscape.

• Lead design and implementation of a modern data lakehouse using Microsoft Fabric and medallion architecture.
• Design scalable solutions leveraging Fabric’s unified platform (Lake houses, Data Warehouses, Data Engineering).
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to align architecture with bronze, silver, and gold data layer standards.
• Integrate cloud‑based storage solutions (Azure Data Lake Storage) and manage raw ingestion via Azure Data Factory and Event Streams.
• Build data transformation pipelines for silver and gold layers, and deliver business‑ready models for Power BI.
• Implement CDC and incremental load patterns, batch and streaming ingestion, and data transformation frameworks.
• Maintain metadata using Microsoft Purview for lineage, quality, and governance.
• Apply security controls, compliance, and data governance policies.
• Monitor and tune performance across all medallion layers, Fabric Warehouse queries, Spark jobs, and Power BI reports.
• Collaborate with analysts, document architecture, troubleshoot issues, and provide after‑hours support.
• Mentor junior team members and support hardware/software installation as needed.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 8 years overall IT experience, 6 years recent in data engineering, big data, or Microsoft Fabric.
• At least 3 years hands‑on Microsoft Fabric experience or equivalent Azure data platform.
• Proven experience designing lakehouse architectures with a medallion pattern.
• Strong skills in Fabric Data Engineering, Pipelines, Notebooks, Lakehouse, cloud‑based storage.
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance.
• Experience in the full product development life cycle.
• SQL proficiency in MS SQL and/or Oracle databases.
• Experience developing Power BI reports.
• Excellent communication to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Certifications are a strong plus:
  Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (for travel).

Salary range: $125,000 – $145,000 per year. Additional benefits may apply.
