Head of Finance

We are partnering with a highly respected precision engineering and manufacturing business operating within several highly regulated sectors including aerospace, nuclear, defence and medical.

Forecasting significant growth over the next 12–18 months, the business is entering a key stage in its evolution following recent investment and the appointment of a new leadership structure.

This is a newly created Head of Finance opportunity designed to bring commercial visibility, operational finance capability and improved management information into the heart of the organisation.

The business has strong engineering capability, long-standing customer relationships and ambitious growth plans. What it now requires is a commercially minded finance leader capable of modernising reporting, improving financial visibility and helping operational teams make better, data-driven decisions.

This is not a traditional finance leadership role focused purely on statutory reporting and compliance.

Instead, this is a highly operational and transformational role with genuine influence across the business.

• Develop and modernise the finance function to support business growth
• Improve month-end reporting timelines, accuracy and insight
• Build meaningful management accounts and operational reporting capability
• Introduce stronger financial controls, processes and governance
• Support the wider business in becoming more commercially and financially aware
• Mentor, coach and develop the finance team

• Develop a deep understanding of manufacturing operations and earned value creation
• Translate shop floor activity into meaningful commercial and financial reporting
• Support operational teams with profitability analysis and performance insight
• Improve visibility around production efficiency, costing and project performance
• Partner with operational leadership to improve data accuracy and accountability

• Support the implementation and optimisation of a new ERP/finance platform
• Improve integration between operational systems and financial reporting
• Work closely with manufacturing and scheduling teams to enhance data integrity
• Develop more robust reporting tools and management information

• Lead and develop the finance function alongside wider operational support teams
• Build an empowered, high-accountability culture
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and senior leadership team

We are seeking a commercially minded and operationally engaged finance leader with strong manufacturing experience and a passion for improvement.

You may currently be operating as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or Finance Director within a manufacturing or engineering environment and looking for a role with broader influence and genuine transformational opportunity.

• Strong manufacturing finance experience
• Deep understanding of management accounting within an operational environment
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data
• Strong understanding of earned value and operational performance reporting
• Proven experience improving processes, controls and reporting structures
• Strong coaching and mentoring capability
• A hands‑on and pragmatic leadership style
• Confidence influencing both shop floor and senior leadership stakeholders
• High levels of commercial curiosity and continuous improvement mindset
