A supportive and high-achieving mainstream secondary school in Lancaster is looking for a Cover Supervisor to join their team immediately. While you will cover a variety of subjects across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, there is a strong emphasis on delivering Science cover lessons. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a Science background or a Science degree to utilise their knowledge to keep pupils engaged and on‑track.
The role runs until the end of the academic year, with a planned extension into the next term (September-December).

Oversee pre‑set Science lessons (and other subjects when required), ensuring students remain focused, safe, and on‑task. - Deliver Content:
Present instructions and learning materials clearly to pupils, answering basic questions‑particularly in Science subjects—to support their understanding. - Maintain Environment:
Implement the school's behaviour policy consistently and foster a positive learning atmosphere. - Feedback:
Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and provide constructive feedback to the returning class teacher.
- Experience working with groups of children or young people (e.g., coaching, tutoring, camp leading, or prior school experience).
- A degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) is highly desirable and an excellent option for this role.
- High emotional intelligence, confidence, and strong communication skills.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to a bustling school environment.
- A current enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Competitive Pay:
Paid to scale based on your experience. - Career Progression:
Ideal preparation for anyone considering a PGCE or School Direct teacher training pathway. - Consistency: A reliable, full‑time placement that bridges two academic years.
- Supportive Environment: A welcoming staff team and full orientation into the school's systems and behavioural policies.
