Full-time faculty play a vital role in shaping the next generation of EMS professionals. They deliver high-quality and engaging instruction in didactic, lab, and clinical/externship settings. Faculty must continually adapt their teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles and promote student success, all while incorporating the latest developments in the field, effective teaching practices, innovations in healthcare education, and accreditation guidelines.
Faculty of record are responsible for developing and coordinating the learning activities and outcomes for all course identifiers incorporated in assigned courses. They must collaborate with lab and clinical faculty to ensure continuity between didactic content and hands-on skills. Collaboration with peers and administrators is essential to align each level of the curriculum with the program’s overall objectives and mission.
Full-time faculty must actively contribute to program and department meetings, as well as college-wide committees, with a shared commitment to continuously enhancing curriculum and student learning outcomes. Instructors must engage in a wide range of academic activities including curriculum and course development, course coordination, student advising and tutoring, faculty mentoring, and participation in college initiatives.
An on-campus presence and traditional in-person teaching is required. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments will be primarily on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of East or West campus, off-campus sites, and/or online assignments.
Full-time faculty must be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities. Proficient interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential for teaching, collaboration, and student engagement. Faculty must also demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
Regular on-campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Education, Leadership, or related health discipline from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current unencumbered State of Michigan Paramedic license; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Current State of Michigan EMS Instructor Coordinator (IC) certification; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Certification for healthcare providers; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Significant work experience in the field.
Preferred QualificationsONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Bachelor's Degree in any field from a regionally accredited college or university, with a teaching certification at the elementary or secondary level, AND demonstrated teaching experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education from a regionally accredited college or university, AND demonstrated teaching experience.
- Master's Degree in Education from a regionally accredited college or university.
