District/Organization: Caledonia Community Schools – Caledonia, MI
Position/Type: Other, full time

Location: Multi-Site

Reports To: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

Work Year:185 Days (Summer work will be required for 2026)

Salary Range: Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience.

Summary

The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for leading the District’s preschool programming with classrooms distributed across the District’s elementary schools. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for monitoring classroom quality, supporting instructional practices, promoting family engagement, ensuring compliance with program standards, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all children.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education
  • Ability to meet qualifications for Program Director under LARA R 400.8113
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current early childhood issues and practices.
  • Excellent oral, written, and technological communication skills
  • Positively interact with staff and parents
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff.
  • Ensure that programs meet quality standards as determined by the State of Michigan.
  • Monitor and maintain licenses for the sites, and regularly communicate with the licensing consultant/LARA.
  • Maintain current licensing and staff requirements.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inviting, stimulating, safe, and secure environment at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with district and building administrators.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to GSRP teaching staff.
  • Support implementation of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • Assist teachers with curriculum planning, assessment practices, individualized instruction, and child development strategies.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to improve instructional quality.
  • Support implementation of evidence-based early childhood practices.
  • Assist staff in understanding and applying state early childhood standards and program requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Kent ISD to fulfill all requirements from the GSRP implementation manual
  • Monitor compliance with GSRP requirements, licensing regulations, and district policies.
  • Assist in preparing for state monitoring visits, audits, and program reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program quality and compliance.
  • Ensure classrooms maintain safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environments.
  • Assist teachers in using/analyzing assessment data to guide instruction and intervention.
  • Monitor child progress and help identify additional supports or services when needed.
  • Assist teachers in using assessment data to guide instruction and intervention.
  • Analyze program data and prepare reports as requested.
  • Promote strong family partnerships and engagement opportunities.
  • Support staff in conducting family conferences, home visits, and communication activities.
  • Connect families with community resources and support services.
  • Plan and facilitate professional learning opportunities for early childhood staff.
  • Participate in district and state professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with administrators, special education staff, instructional coaches, and related service providers.
  • Participate in program planning, staff meetings, and district committees.
  • Assist with recruitment, enrollment, and transition activities for preschool students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Effectively communicate with parents on a regular basis via phone or email.
