PRN Interpreter

Job Description

Provide language interpretation services for patients and families receiving healthcare. The interpreter ensures patients/families understand each speaker’s message, rendering all messages accurately and completely, without adding, omitting, or substituting information. The interpreter replicates the speaker’s register, style, and tone. The interpreter maintains objectivity, not allowing personal judgments or cultural values to bias interactions. The interpreter adheres to the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

• Bilingual in one of the following languages:
  Russian, Ukrainian, or Spanish.
• Pass required bilingual fluency and conversation skills, and possess knowledge of interpreting and ethics, including medical terminology as required by regulation.
• Agree to maintain required certification or qualifications for medical interpreting.
• Demonstrate exemplary customer‑relations skills and professional demeanor, with proven ability to communicate effectively and accurately, verbally and in writing, with all levels within the organization and with outside agencies.
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding information available within the department and hospital.
