News Anchor - Broadcast​/Digital; Spanish - Kgns

Responsibilities

• Anchor our market‑leading Monday‑Friday evening newscasts
• Exercise a strong news judgment, research complicated stories, and determine the content and quality of newscasts
• Act as a co‑producer during the late newscasts
• Read/copy edit news scripts before each show
• Be a digital‑first journalist, posting compelling content to social media and the station's digital platforms
• Be involved in the community, emceeing events, and making public appearances as requested by the station
• Be ready to report/field anchor when major breaking news happens
• Report and produce regular franchise stories

• A college degree in journalism or a related field is required
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable
• Initiative and attention to detail are required
• Be able to write clearly and accurately; great grammar!
• Must be able to work well under sometimes intense pressure and tight deadlines
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will work well with co‑workers, supervisors, and viewers
• Ability to keep up with national and local news/weather is required
• Ability to enterprise local hard‑news stories is required
• Computer knowledge, including newsroom software, Microsoft applications, and Internet use
• Produce newscasts, including stacking, writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics to fit stories, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters & photographers
• Must be able to edit video and audio
• Must be able to carry camera equipment (about 15‑20 LB.)
