Job Overview

Instructional Assistant Professor of Dance – Texas A&M International University – Laredo, Texas – Faculty (9-month, fixed-term, 3 academic years, possibility of renewal). This non-tenure track position begins Fall
2026. The university is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students.

• Teach undergraduate dance courses in technique, choreography, and theory, demonstrating excellence in studio and classroom instruction.
• Develop course materials, assess student learning, and mentor students, providing academic advising.
• Choreograph and/or direct departmental performances and participate in production activities.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program initiatives.
• Engage in departmental, college, and university service.
• Support student recruitment and retention efforts, including recruiting students and applying for external funding to support student activities.
• Attend on-campus teaching and other face-to-face interactions on a regular basis.

• Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance with a focus on Flamenco and Folklorico from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated success teaching dance at the collegiate or professional level.
• Professional experience as a performer, choreographer, or dance artist is required.
• Ability to instruct multiple techniques (e.g., ballet, modern, jazz, or contemporary) – a plus.
• Evidence of effective teaching, strong communication skills, and engagement with students of diverse backgrounds.
• Encouraged to have experience seeking external funding.
