Job Summary
Mobile Diesel/Trailer Technician in Laredo, TX who will be responsible for preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostic tests, and repairs on our trucks and trailers, including equipment by Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliners, Utility, and Thermo King. This encompasses all general and complex repairs.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and non-routine repairs to company/contractor fleet equipment to meet DOT standards
- Diesel and gas engine diagnostics and repair
- Suspension and steering systems diagnostics and repair
- Air and hydraulic braking systems diagnostics and repair
- Electrical and lighting diagnostics and repair
- Preventable maintenance repairs on trucks and trailers
- Changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
- Maintaining a clean and neat shop
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Basic tool set for job functions
- 3+ years of general heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience
- Working knowledge of telematics systems and diagnostic software
- Basic computer skills required
- Ability to read and understand operating manuals, service manuals and written instructions
- Valid Class C driver's license
- Ability to clearly read, write and speak English
- Basic math calculations
- Cummins or Detroit Certifications
- Commercial Inspection Certification
- Engine diagnosis
- Engine repair
- Preventable maintenance
- Wheel seals
- Water pumps
- A/C components
- Compressors
- Air and hydraulic braking systems
- APU's
- Basic math
- Tool utilization
- Truck repair
- Electronic diagnostics

- Knowledge of Cummins X15 engine
- Knowledge of Detroit DD15 engine
- Diesel repair
- Fleet mechanic/technician experience
- Maneuvering around, in, on, and under trucks/tight spaces to properly inspect and diagnose problems
- Standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body movements
- Using hands to handle, control or feel
- Climbing ladders, stairs, and platforms
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
10+ years as Diesel Technician
