We're hiring:
Red Seal Plumber/Gas Fitter Support. Skilled. Reliable.

Sturgeon Public Schools is currently seeking a Full‑Time Red Seal Plumber/ Gas Fitter based out of Central Office in Morinville.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and/or designate, the Plumber/Gas Fitter will assume responsibility for service and maintenance of Sturgeon Public School Division facilities. All duties are to be performed on a timely and accurate basis. This is an eight (8) hour per day position; however, the person is on call for emergencies and on a rotational call for evenings and weekends.

Knowledge,

Education and Experience:
  • Inter‑provincial Red Seal Plumber/Gas Fitter B class ticket
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a commercial setting
  • Working knowledge of Provincial code requirements and changes to the code along with legislative bulletins
  • Working knowledge of BMS system programming is desirable
  • Excellent human relations skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments
  • Perform all work on a timely and accurate basis
  • Work well under pressure
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new applications and keep abreast of new information, products and equipment as they become available
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and service all plumbing for Sturgeon Public School Division facilities, including water lines, drains, waste and vent lines, sinks, toilets and urinals
  • Maintain boilers, including control valves and scheduled maintenance of the exhaust vents
  • Respond to work order requests under the direction of the Coordinator of Operations and Maintenance
  • Supervise students hired for summer projects
  • Work in conjunction with contractors and school custodians as required
  • Be willing to engage in lifelong learning with respect to training, in‑service and professional development
  • Promote public relations between the communities, school division and school office
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities

Note:
  • 40 hours per week, 8‑hour/day, with on‑call responsibilities for emergencies, including a rotational schedule for evenings and weekends
