Junior Accountant
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant supports the finance department by performing key accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. This role requires strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the general ledger, including posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and supporting the month-end close process. The Junior Accountant also assists with preparation for year-end audits and ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
In addition, this position serves as a backup to the Accounts Payable function and is responsible for processing purchase requisitions, coordinating purchasing activities, and maintaining office supply inventory to ensure both office locations remain fully stocked.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and enter journal entries.
- Perform general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, including bank statement reconciliations.
- Review and approve accounts payable and cash disbursement transactions.
- Assist with month-end closing processes.
- Prepare and distribute periodic financial reports.
- Support preparation for year-end audits, UFR submissions, and tax filings.
- Interact professionally with auditors, banking personnel, and other external stakeholders.
- Act as a backup for Accounts Payable.
- Responsible for purchasing and procurement functions, including processing and tracking purchase requisitions, coordinating orders and vendor communications, and maintaining office supply inventory for both office locations to ensure supplies remain fully stocked.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with organizational policies and audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, purchasing procedures, and financial policies.
- Conduct financial analyses as needed.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and special assignments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience with automated accounting systems required; familiarity with Sage Intacct is preferred.
- Non-profit financial administration experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
- Comfortable working in a multi-program, collaborative environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial staff and external partners.
Hours:
37.5 hours per week
At Age Span, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining rate of pay. Actual rate of pay depends on factors including but not limited to internal equity, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $33 - $35/hour.
