Job Description
Registered Nurse (Nurse
1) at Ohio Department of Administrative Services – Full time, immediate start.
- Administer medication (oral, intramuscular, intravenous) and monitor patient medication compliance.
- Perform treatments and assist with nurse’s sick call.
- Assist with doctor’s sick call.
- Perform or assist with nursing management of chronic care clinics.
- Respond to emergencies by providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Perform subjective and objective assessment of patients.
- Collect vital signs and document findings.
- Collect urine and/or other bodily fluid specimens.
- Prepare patients for release or transfer to other facilities.
- Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy.
- Participate in work‑related training and institutional training exercises.
- Provide assistance to other healthcare staff.
- Investigate and document problem areas or concerns.
- Review shift reports from preceding shift(s).
- Assist physicians with medical procedures.
- Assume duties of other nurses during absences.
- Counsel and provide education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention.
- Participate in quality assurance activities.
- Provide training and work direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and hospital aides.
- Serve as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters.
- Provide orientation and training for new healthcare personnel under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor.
- Serve as lead clinical authority on site in the absence of the HCA, QIC, medical director, and/or advanced level provider staff.
- Participate in group programming.
- Participate in health and wellness initiatives.
- Perform administrative duties as indicated.
- Attend and schedule multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Assume duties of shift charge as assigned, making work assignments and adjustments as necessary.
- Perform or assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies.
- Assist ancillary staff to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Current RN license issued by the State of Ohio.
- Experience:
0 or more years. - Knowledge of emergency and urgent care procedures.
- Skills:
Nursing, Urgent and Emergency Care, Basic Medical Procedures, Medical Charting, Direct Support/Direct Care, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Teamwork, Cultural Awareness. - Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, serve as shift charge, manage inventory, and provide patient education.
Starting salary approximately $92,000 based on location and shift assignments.
