Ledyard Public Schools is seeking several Instructional Support Paraeducators for the Extended School Year program. The para educators work under the direct supervision of a certified staff member and will assist with students in person.

The Extended School Year program will run July 6 - July 31, Monday-Thursday, from 9:00 AM
-1:00 PM. Staff will be expected to be on-site 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM to assist with arrival and dismissal.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists and works with students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, ADLs, and other skills as identified by the supervising teacher
  • Works with students individually and in small groups to implement assigned programs and tasks
  • Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, support a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

:
  • Genuine interest in serving the needs of special education students and the ability to implement assigned learning activities provided by the supervising teacher
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years of college credit or hold an associate's (or higher) degree or evidence of having passed Para Pro Assessment
  • Previous experience working with special education students in inclusive and small-group settings is preferred
Pay:
  • Rate of Pay 17.51/hour:
    Current District Paraeducators are paid current rate.
