About us

Leeds Children’s Hospital has an annual budget of £103 million, inpatient bed base of 286 beds, and delivers 102,000 outpatient appointments and 20,000 inpatient and day case episodes. The majority of this activity is on the Leeds General Infirmary site, however there is a neonatal unit based on the St James Hospital site.

As well as general paediatric medicine, LCH provides subspecialty care (oncology, hepatology and cardiology among others), neonatology and general/specialist paediatric surgery.

responsibilities

Experience in paediatrics. It is ideally suited to candidates wishing to work in a large teaching hospital which provides many specialist services and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in paediatrics.

The daytime role will be primarily based at Leeds Children’s hospital. The postholder will be involved in managing in-patients and participating in outpatient clinics. The post-holder will be supported to participate in medical audit, clinical guidelines and local/multi-centre research projects.

The registrar will be outlining the management plan and overlooking the patient flow. You will also be required to assist in preparing discharge letters, initiation/change of treatment and discussions with relatives.

Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
  • Be eligible for full registration with and hold a current licence to practice from the GMC at intended start date
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills
  • Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
  • Ability to prioritise clinical need
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
  • Recognition of and ability to the initial management of an acutely ill patient
  • APLS or PALS or equivalent must be completed by post commencement
Qualifications
  • Paediatric Speciality trainee doctor ST4 level or above at the time of commencement of post
  • Must have completed RCPCH membership exams at the time of application
  • 6 months working on Tier 2 rota in UK
  • Outcome 1 at last ARCP
  • APLS or EPALS or equivalent must be valid
