We have an exciting Senior Platform Engineer opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for supporting the user community through the implementation, maintenance, and upkeep of the servers/cloud platforms/services/applications they use. The Senior System Engineer reports to the Platform Engineering Manager and works closely with IT staff and management. The successful person brings a can‑do attitude and positive energy every day and is prepared to communicate with all levels of employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead team meetings, medium to large cross functional/departmental projects. Coordinate the successful execution of project activities. Assist and develop project presentations. Present to technical and leadership groups.
  • Evaluate and respond appropriately to customer issues and requests. Handle highly complex issues without assistance. Escalate when necessary to appropriate team, individual, or vendors to resolve. Participate in team on‑call rotation.
  • Manage a secure and stable server, storage, virtualization, backup, database services, and cloud platform environments throughout the organization and provide metrics to measure performance/capacity/availability and drive improvements.
  • Maintain a stable Microsoft 365 tenant organization‑wide supporting multiple divisions for services that include but are not limited to Active Directory, M365, and other unified communication and collaboration solutions.
  • Monitor and test server architectures, identify possible solutions, and work with customers to implement those fixes.
  • Provide knowledge, training, and solution sets to first and second level support teams to improve first‑call resolution and increase customer satisfaction. Review issues to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Work on complex incidents, perform troubleshooting, and administer repairs. Drive team to meet team Service Level Agreements.
  • Drive automation, simplify and consolidate infrastructure platforms.
  • Maintain and enhance accurate documentation steps for installation, maintenance, and configuration activities. Maintain platform‑related inventory and other hardware/software/license tracing documentation.
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any task.
  • Define and document work and implementation standards/processes/procedures for the broader work group.
  • Drive the design of solutions within area of expertise.
  • Actively coach and mentor others or this from the HD III – establish training programs and provide one‑on‑one mentoring meetings with lower‑level engineers.
  • Manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure and multiple SaaS solutions to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices. Proactively identify opportunities to leverage technology, improve processes, and enhance vendor relations to reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction. Work with management team to develop strategic direction for team.
  • Participate in team member evaluations and goal setting sessions.
  • Other duties may be added and/or assigned as needed.
