An Estimator plays a crucial role in the construction industry by accurately assessing project costs and facilitating the bidding process. This position involves building and maintaining relationships with general contractors and clients, primarily within the fire protection sector. The Estimator will collaborate closely with team members to develop competitive proposals and ensure project success. The role demands a strong foundation in estimating practices and the ability to navigate a competitive environment.
Ideal candidates will possess a blend of technical skills and interpersonal abilities to thrive in this dynamic setting.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 / Year DOE
Estimator Responsibilities:
- Develop relationships with owners and general contractors to enhance design-build revenue
- Work with customers to identify their needs and develop solutions
- Review construction drawings, project schedules, and specifications
- Complete detailed take-offs, estimates, and proposals based on construction documents
- Perform hazard analysis and value engineering tasks for design/build projects
- Maintain an active proposal backlog that supports the established sales plan
- Keep historical records of all sales and bidding documents
- Participate in project kick-off meetings to ensure project success
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs
- Estimating experience in construction is required
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Open to candidates with a robust math background
- Experience in commercial, residential, and industrial fire protection is preferred
- NICET certification in water-based fire systems is preferred
- Fire sprinkler design experience is preferred
- 401K with up to 6% match, eligible after 6 months
