Technical Support, Hardware Engineer
The Position
Location:
Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia (Ideal candidate to live in Lexington, KY)
Travel: 100% in assigned territory.
The OpportunityAs a Field Engineering Specialist, you will demonstrate technical repair and installation expertise for Roche assigned product lines in an assigned territory. Product responsibility includes clinical chemistry, immunoassay, and lab automation.
- Provides routine technical support to customers on operational and maintenance aspects of system equipment.
- Performs on‑site service, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This may include mechanical/system hardware and software, networking, and wireless networking.
- Serves as customer contact on routine technical and service‑related problems and follows documented practices, policies and procedures.
- Diagnoses mechanical, hardware, software and system failures using established procedures, determining cost‑effective repairs to minimize customer downtime.
- Provides analysis, feedback and recommendations on product failure trends and serviceability issues, documenting all activity in compliance with quality procedures.
- Applies advanced skills and may adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques for complex tasks.
- Resolves most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels.
- Maintains and improves the quality system, achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
- High school diploma and 2 years of technical school or equivalent military training or work experience.
- 5 years of progressive experience in repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, or networking/wireless networking. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 1–2 years of progressive experience will suffice.
- Successful completion of training or certification as defined by RD Services Leadership and policy.
- Ability to travel, including overnight travel.
- 8+ years of progressive experience or a bachelor's degree plus 4+ years of progressive experience.
- Advanced knowledge of electronics, electro‑mechanical systems, information technology, and basic chemistry.
- Ability to serve as an internal technical resource, provide support after hours and on weekends/holidays, and maintain strong customer relationships.
Salary range: $71,100.00 – $ USD annually, based on experience, qualifications, geographic location and other job‑related factors. A discretionary annual bonus may be available. This position also qualifies for benefits.
